Background
The PEACH (Personal Experience with Active Cultural Heritage) project objective is that of studying and experimenting with various advanced technologies that can enhance cultural heritage appreciation. The PIL project is an extension of the original PIL project. The PIL project is part of the collaboration between ITC/irst and the University of Haifa, where PEACH research results are transferred from ITC/irst to the University of Haifa and extended with local research.
PIL Project Description As part of the definition and design, the PEACH Museum Visitors Guide system was selected as candidate for technology transfer and extension. The Hecht Museum at the university of Haifa was selected as the site where this part of the showcase will take place.

Two specific exhibitions – the ancient ship from Ma'agan Mikhael and the Phoenicians exhibition were selected for the show case due to the fact that they are closely related and can be mutually referred. Specific technological aspects were selected where PEACH technology will be extended with local research: Intelligent Agents Group Communication, Ubiquitous User modeling, User interface Design and Multimedia Presentation Preparation. |
Detailed Activities
Foundation of the Israeli – Italian Intelligent Information Presentation (I4P ). This virtual group includes Italian and Israeli researchers collaborating in the area of Intelligent information Presentation. |

Multimedia presentations development methodology is being defined. |

Museum Visitors Guide interfaces are developed for menu based and mixed initiative system. |

Ubiquitous User Modeling approaches in the form of user modeling mediation are researched for the adaptive part of the system. |

Group communication services for active museum are defined as part of context aware service delivery in multi agents system. |

In parallel with the research activity, a museum visitors' guide system is being built at the Hecht museum. This is a multi-agents system, based on the LoudVoice agents communication infrastructure and the PEACH museum visitors' geode system. It applies WiFI and IR positioning techniques and it will support both location aware meniu based museum visitors' guide system and an adaptive system applying Mixed initiative approach. |
